Welcome to the ISHA Repairs Working Group
Repairs Working Group now suspended
At the Residents' Forum of 11th September 2010 the following statement was published by Julian Elve, chair of the Repairs Working group. The Forum agreed that the RWG had run its course and agreed to suspend the working group:
From: Julian Elvé, Chair of Repairs Working Group
To: All
members of the ISHA Residents’ Forum
Subject: Repairs Working Group
Date: 11/09/2010
Dear fellow residents,
You will remember that the Repairs
Working Group was set up by the Residents’ Forum in November 2009 to provide an
opportunity for more detailed input from ISHA Residents to the way in which
ISHA manage repairs.
Since that time we have held a
number of meetings, and delivered improvement and change, including the
following:
A workshop for Residents to define what Local
KPIs were desired, and follow-up work with ISHA to make sure the information
was put together;
Provided Resident input to a range of process
changes by ISHA around the setting up of the Service Centre;
Heard Resident frustrations about communal
repairs, and encouraged ISHA to make process changes to make sure the person
who reports a communal repair knows when it should be addressed;
At our 15/09/2010 meeting we will have an
opportunity to question Colin Archer, ISHA Development Director, about progress
in improving the process for managing defects and repairs in new build
properties.
These achievements have been very
worthwhile, and we have had clear feedback from ISHA that the working group has
been useful to them as a way of progressing issues that need a Resident input.
In my opinion there are still
worthwhile issues the Working Group could address, and the opportunity to work
together with ISHA management does enable real change to happen. However there
seems to be little ongoing interest from Residents, as the attendance at
meetings has always been low.
With such poor attendance the group
ceases to be representative of the whole mix of Residents, and becomes driven
by the individual opinions of the people present. Given that, I believe the
Group has come to the end of its useful life, and I therefore recommend to
Residents’ Forum that the Repairs Working Group be disbanded.
Should the Forum wish some similar
Working Group to continue, then I believe the time is right for me to stand
down as Chair and give someone else the opportunity.
I would like to thank those
Residents who have become involved, and the management and staff of ISHA who
have considered and implemented the recommendations we have made.
Current Highlights
The group reported back to the Residents' Forum on 13th May 2010 about the work done on Local KPIs. The Forum agreed the outputs and ISHA are now starting to collect the data for these measures every month. This was a fantastic result, as the Group have picked up an idea from the Residents Forum and worked with ISHA to turn into reality. The next meeting is on 15th September and will be an opportunity for Residents to discuss their concerns and ideas with the ISHA Development Director for improving the repairs and defect service for new homes Meeting dates are now planned until October - see the Meetings Page for details
What do we do?
The ISHA Repairs Working Group is a sub-group of the ISHA Residents Forum, set up to make improvements in all aspects of the repairs services offered by ISHA, including:
- responsive repairs
- defects in new developments
- gas servicing
- cleaning
- gardening
- aids and adaptations
- external decorations and repair.
Why does the Group exist?
The Repairs Working Group was set up at the request of the
ISHA Residents Forum, to make sure there was a clear "Resident Voice" feeding into ISHA about the repairs services. ISHA management were also keen to set the group up to provide a focused channel for them to get resident input about the services.
Who can get involved?
The Repairs Working Group is open to any ISHA resident or ISHA staff member
Where do we meet?
When do we meet?
We aim to have one meeting a month, although members of the Group may choose to get together more frequently if necessary. We will produce a summary of our activities for every Residents Forum meeting. You can see a list of past and planned
meetings.
